Hazrat KHWAJAH MAUDOOD CHISHTY (R.A)
His titles are Qutubul Aqtab and Qutbud Deen. He is also known by the titles Shama’ Sufiyan (The Candle of the Sufis) and Chiragh-e-Chishtiyan (The Lamp of the Chishtis).
He was born in the year 430 Hijri and was a Husaini Sayyid. His father was Khwajah Abu Yusuf from whom he had received the mantle of Khilaafate.
By the age of 7 years he was a Hafiz of the Qur’aan and at 16 he had completed the course of Uloom-e-Zaahiriyyah. It was during this time (after completion of his academic career) that he wrote the kitaabs, Minhajul Aarifeen and Khulasatush Shariat.
When he was 29 years, his father died. He discharged the right of his father’s office commendably in guiding mankind. So numerous were the people who flocked to him for spiritual and moral guidance that his khulafaa alone numbered ten thousand while his mureedeen were countless.
He had acquired the miracle of Tay’ul Ardh (i.e. to traverse great distances in moments). When he wished to perform tawaaf, he would in moments be miraculously in Makkah Mukarramah.
He associated much with the Fuqara, never wearing beautiful garments. The degree of his tawaadhu (humility) was exceptionally lofty in perfection. He was always the first to initiate Salaam and he would stand in honour of every person.
He had also acquired the capabilities known as Kashf-e-Quloob (Revelation of the hearts) and Kashf-e-Quboor (Revelation of the graves). Once a prince came to him and requested for some tabarruk (any item of the Shaikh). Shaikh Madood refused. The prince brought along a few sincere persons to intercede for him. Thus, the Shaikh presented the prince a topi. But he added: “Guard it otherwise you will regret.” On his return the prince became engrossed in his play and amusement. When the Shaikh discovered this, he said:
“What, did the topi not perform its function?”
After a few days, the prince was arrested for some crime and his eyes were taken out.
It is impossible to enumerate Khwajah Maudood’s Khulafaa. For the sake of barkat, a few are mentioned hereunder.
Khwajah Abu Ahmad, Khwajah Shareef Zandani, Shah Sanjan, Shaikh Abu Naseer Shakeeban, Shaikh Hasan Tibti, Shaikh Ahmad Baderoon, Khwajah Sabz Paush, Shaikh Uthman Awwal and Khwajah Abul Hasan. Among them, the link in this (Chishti) Silsilah is Khwajah Shareef Zandani who will soon be discussed.
Shaikh Maudood passed away in the beginning of Rajab 427 Hijri at the age of 97 years. His first Janaazah Salaat was performed by invisible (ghaib) men. Thereafter the general public performed the Janaazah Salaat. After the Janaazah Salaat, the Janaazah of its own accord, moved in mid-air. Seeing this miraculous event of Khwajah Maudood, numerous people accepted Islam.
His grave is in Chisht in Afghanistan.
22nd Jumadi-ul-Thani , 1438 Hijri

On 22nd day of this Lunar Month in Ajmer Sharif, highly inspiring programme of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (Radi Allah Unho) is celebrated at a specific demise at the shrine in Ajmer Sharif.
Hzrt Abu Bakr (Radi Allahu anhu’s) real name was Abdullah, and he was given the title of “As Siddique” or”Testifier to the Truth.” His father, ‘Uthman, was known as Abu Quhafah and his mother, Salma, was known as Ummul Khair. He was two and a half years younger than the blessed and final Prophet Sayyiduna Rasulullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).
Hzrt Abu Bakr (R.A.) the First Among Men to Enter Islam.
Hzrt Abu Bakr (R.A) were always a very close Companion of the Holy Prophet, he knew them better than any other man. He knew how honest and upright the Prophet was. Such knowledge of the Prophet made Abu Bakr (R.A) be the first man to follow the Message of Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. He was indeed the first adult male to accept Islam.
The Holy Prophet told Abu Bakr (R.A) what had happened at Mount Hira’, he told him that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has revealed to him and made him His Messenger.
When Abu Bakr (R.A) heard this from the prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, he did not stop to think, he at once became a Muslim. He submitted to Islam with such determination that once the Holy Prophet himself remarked, “I called people to Islam, everybody thought over it, at least for a while, but this was not the case with Abu Bakr (R.A), the moment I put Islam before him, he accepted it without any hesitation”. He was titled As-Siddiq by the Prophet because his faith was too strong to be shaken by anything.
In fact, Abu Bakr (R.A) was more than a great believer, as soon as he became a Muslim, he immediately began to preach Islam to others. Among those who accepted Abu Bakr’s invitation to Islam were; Uthman, Zubair, Talha, Abdul Rahman bin Auf, Saadi bin Waqqas and others who later became the pillars of Islam.
Abu Bakr’s love of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam was so great that he was willing to sacrifice his life for the sake of protecting and comforting the Prophet saw.
Such love and sacrifice were demonstrated when one day the Holy Prophet was saying his prayers in the Ka’ba, while some of the chiefs of Mecca were sitting in the court yard of the Ka’ba. Seeing the Prophet praying, ‘Uqbah bin Abi Mu’eet took a long piece of cloths and put it around the Prophet’s neck and twisted it hard in an attempt to strangle the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam to death. At that moment Abu Bakr (R.A) happened to pass by from a distance, he saw ‘Uqbah trying to strangle the Prophet to death. Immediately Abu Bakr ran to the help of the Prophet, he pushed ‘Uqbah aside and took the cloth from around the Prophet’s neck. Thereupon the enemies of Islâm came down upon Abu Bakr and beat him , although Abu Bakr with faith like a rock did not care for his own suffering, he was glad that he was able to save the Prophet of Allah, even at the risk of his own life.
Abu Bakr with the wealth he had, also had a major role in freeing some of the Muslim slaves, who were barbarically tortured by their heartless Mushrik masters to give up the Faith and return to their masters’ beliefs. The heartless monsters tried all kinds of torture: they made them lie all naked on the burning desert sand, putting big stones on their chest, as well as other kinds of torture. Here Abu Bakr’s wealth came to the rescue, as he bought the poor helpless slaves from their inhuman masters and set them free, Bilal Al-Habashi (R.A), the slave of Umayya bin Khalaf, was among those who were set free by Abu Bakr. Bilal(R.A) became afterwards the Mu’azzin at the Prophet’s mosque.
Khulafa-e-Rashideen (R.A) The Companions of the Beloved Prophet (S.A.W) hold the highest status in all His (S.A.W)’s Ummah.
It is the belief That Great Caliphs (Khulafa-e-Rashideen (R.A) are superior to all other Sahabah Ikraam.
Khulafa-e-Rashideen means “The Rightly Guided”. They truly followed in the foot steps of Our Prophet (S.A.W) and became the successors after Him (S.A.W).
The Holy Prophet (S.A.W) once said “Caliphate shall last for 30 years after me, and thereafter Kingship will be established”.
The Four main Caliphs (In Order of Caliphate) were: Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (R.A) (For a period of about 2 years). Hazrat Umar-e-Farooque (R.A) (For a period of about 10 years). ** Who was Hazrath (His Eminence) Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu) ??? ***
Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib ; 13th Rajab, 22 or 16 BH – 21st Ramaḍān, 40 AH; was the cousin and son-in-law of prophet Muhammad (PBUT), ruling over the Islamic Caliphate from 656 to 661. A son of Abu Talib, Hazrath Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu) was also the first male convert to Islam. Sufis consider Hazrat Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu) the fourth and final of the Rashideen (Rightly guided Caliphs).
His father was Abu Talib and his mother was Fatima bint Asad, but he was raised in the household of Prophet Muhammad (PBUT), who themselves were raised by Abu Talib, Muhammad’s (PBUT) uncle, and Hazrat Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu)’s father. When prophet Muhammad (PBUT) reported receiving a divine revelation, Hazrat Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu) was the first male to accept his message, dedicating his life to the cause of Islam.
Hazrat Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu) migrated to Medina shortly after Prophet Muhammad (PBUT) did. Once there Prophet Muhammad (PBUT) told Hazrat Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu) that God had ordered him to give his daughter, Fatimah, to Hazrat Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu) in marriage.
Hazrat Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu) was appointed Caliph by the Companions (the Sahaba) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUT) in Medina after the assassination of the third caliph, Uthman ibn Affan.
He encountered defiance and civil war during his reign.
in 661, Hazrat Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu) was attacked one morning while praying in the mosque of Kufa, and died a few days later.
In Sufi culture, Hazrat Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu) is respected for his courage, knowledge, belief, honesty, unbending devotion to Islam, deep loyalty to Prophet Muhammad (PBUT), equal treatment of all Muslims and generosity in forgiving his defeated enemies, and therefore is central to mystical traditions in Islam such as Sufism.
Hazrat Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu) retains his stature as an authority on Quranic exegesis, Islamic jurisprudence and religious thought. Hazrat Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu) holds a high position in almost all Sufi orders which trace their lineage through him to Prophet Muhammad (PBUT). Hazrat Ali (Karam Allah-Wajhu)’s influence has been important throughout Islamic history.
